Lifestyle/Fashion

You feel it’s time to expand your deep understanding of style into the eyewear market.

How is it done?

1 Kickoff Meeting

This is where we put on our investigator caps and ask many questions.

We will want to cover customer demographics, collection concept, inspirations, brand positioning, timelines, suggested retail price, etc.

All of this helps us gain clarity around the founder’s vision, the brand identity, the project’s goal, and other essential details we keep top of mind.

2 Frame Design

Presentation 1 - This will be a Concept Deck. This combines market research, trending concepts, and inspirational visuals offering several directions for silhouettes, shapes & details for each frame style.

Presentation 2 - We will start exploring front-view sketches. This will adapt the Concept Deck’s final direction into actual frame designs.

Presentation 3 - After front views are approved, we move on to develop the profile & top view of each frame. Components, such as core wire, hinges, or metal decoration, are considered during this step. .

Presentation 4 - We now focus on section views. These are cross-sections of specific parts of the frame so we can truly consider the 3D aspect of the frame. We think of all planes & surfaces while being mindful of how they transition into each other.

Presentation 5
- The last step is to develop the branding details for the inside temple & temple tip and sometimes the lens.

When we complete the designs, we move on by creating Detailed Design Sheets with technical call-outs & measurements so the factory will know precisely how to craft our creations.

3 Color

We spend a shocking amount of time finding just the right colors and opacities so each style can be captivating. Why? Because if the color is wrong, a frame will not sell even if all the other details are perfect.

To get this right, we consider many unique factors like seasonal color trends, various skin tones, lifestyle, and store shelf appeal.

4 Packaging

As with our approach to frame design, we spend just as much detail and thought when we get to the eyewear packaging set. We want to create a cohesive end-to-end experience for the customer.

To do this, we start by reviewing our library around various materials and packaging shapes that reflect the collection and the brand identity. This includes closures, folding mechanics, texture, colors, and branding.

Once we establish the initial direction, we create sketches and present them for your review.

After discussing and finalizing the direction, we acquire preliminary estimates around pricing, duties, tariffs, and logistical costs.

5 Technical Drawings

After the design phase, we start to enter the world of technical execution. Here we review the technical drawings executed by our manufacturer and see if they understand our designs accurately.

Think of it as a one-page Autocad blueprint, formatted with exact specifications, to show how we will bring your designs to life.

6 Prototyping

Eyewear is a complex 3D product. There is just no way for us to understand how it all comes together without seeing the final prototype.

Before tooling, the factory will create a handmade, one-of-a-kind prototype for us to inspect. This is the only way to know how your design looks and feels. We will now understand if we are on the right track or need to make any adjustments.

After the sample inspection, we send our notes to the factory. They will send us a revised prototype or color samples before heading into production.

7 Project Management

The best outcomes rely on transparency and inclusion at all process stages. In our experience, the best eyewear comes from this kind of collaboration.
